Where Apps shine is that they can have all the capabilities of a textbook (And in many cases can help for review better than textbooks.) Textbooks don't normally feature audio, and if it does it is inconvenient to access and in some external disc/download. "Well you can't be fluent just by using textboooks!" or "You can't become fluent just by translating music!" A lot of it is pretty "Duh" worthy stuff. Saying "Oh well you can't become fluent using just apps" can easily be applied to Books, Dramas, Music, etc. People only mention this fact whenever apps are brought up, but that is true for any one resource. You can't become fluent from using ANY one resource. People shoot down apps often for being "apps" and claim you "can't become fluent from apps." But I feel like these kind of arguments are often misguided and misleading. But don't make it your sole source of new vocabulary. Overall, the app has been updated to be a lot better. One good thing is that it's possible to blacklist some words. For instance, how do you translate "sister"? 여동생? 언니? 누나? (It seems they didn't include it anyway, maybe because it's impossible to find a single correct translation?)Ĭoming back to the verbs, after a few tests, some are conjugated, others aren't.

In the case of Korean, a lot of the verbs will probably be a bit weirdly translated, some important words may be missing (because it is pretty specific to Korean culture), others will be useless (do I really care about knowing how to say "a turkey" in Korean?), and some can't translate to a single word. Which means that the vocabulary list is not always pertinent to a learner of a specific language. The only complaint I have about this app is that it's made to cover a lot of very different languages. ► Please see our complete list of rules here.
